Outrageous push by Government to control local councils

The RMA and Housing Minister Chris Bishop has unleashed on councils, pointed right at the Christchurch City Council and others and he is seemingly determined to cut through Councils bureaucracy by inserting a regulation power in the RMA to override councils and force them to comply with government housing direction.

Regional Councils also will not be immune to the changes coming. We are next on the government hit list. The RMA reforms will fundamentally change how things are done and will change the level of local input communities, and the councils have in engaging in environmental, resource and local planning.
