Each week I watch Bernard Hickey’s “The Hoon”. He interviews many interesting people and recently he had a special analysis of the Middle East and the challenges facing our society.
Here’s a link to that conversation and I recommend that you make a cup of tea and listen (100) The Weekly Hoon: The Middle East fuel crisis & more. The complexity of the war declared by USA and Israel and the response by Iran is discussed in depth by well-informed people.
Our government seems to be so firmly sitting on the fence it’s scary. Could we be witnessing the demise of the American empire in real time. I recently watched an interview by some Australian journalists with Dr Mary Trump, the President’s niece. Dr Trump is a clinical psychologist. When Mary Trump pulled back the curtains on their family and you consider the big red button at Trump’s disposal it’s scary. She lamented the checks and balances in their society which have been swept aside by the current American regime.
Surely, It’s time for our government to take off their sycophantic rose-tinted glasses and engage in the search for alternative alliances which make this world a safer place. Trump regularly demonstrates that loyalty to him means nothing. It’s time that our government thought longer than the next election. To remove their rose-tinted glasses.
Let us consider the impact of this unnecessary war on our fuel supplies. I have been searching for maps of where the oil supplies are moving. I worry that our government is so desperate to not look like Labour’s handling of the Covid crisis that they are engaged in self-delusion about us not needing to change us all personally to a higher level of self-preparation.
Perhaps I need to reconsider my view about Trump’s crazy behaviour. He has highlighted that our way of life and our cavalier attitude toward the planet makes us all increasingly vulnerable. That’s not a bad thing. Instead of choosing to ignore those wise souls who have been pointing out these things for years we are now in a “do-not-adjust-your-mind, reality-is at-fault” moment in our history.
