Two videos that will help you understand the tragedy and the miracle that surrounds the land at Stories Takapūneke and Akaroa Harbour.
Last summer we stayed at Tikau Bay on western shores of Akaroa, and we looked across at a newly created sculptured area to the South of the main town. Later we went over to explore it – highly recommended.
Dr Kelly Tikao, Rik Tainui, Dame Anne Salmond and Hugh Willson were invited to share their stories by Akaroa Civic Trust at their AGM on 2 December 2023. Grab a cup of tea and listen to these.
The first video has Jenny Tikau, Rick Tainui and Dame Anne Salmond, the second short video is Hugh Wilson of Hinewai giving a big story view of the creation of what we now know as Akaroa Harbour – with his long range view of millions of years.
