It takes a clever mind to say simply what most of us would take a volume to cover. When David Elms wrote to me about ENGAGE he challenged me about what I had written last week when he wrote:
So I’d suggest adding something about what SCIRT actually did, which was to take a set of existing bodies – both owners and contractors – who were all set up to do it their own way and compete to the death, and somehow get them all to WORK COLLABORATIVELY AS WELL AS COMPETE, all in such a way that the projects went beautifully, everyone involved was happy and proud with what they’d done, and the commercial firms involved all made money, and more than they would have in their normal competitive way of doing things. And it all completed on time or earlier.
The idea of ENGAGE is a process, a framework, for helping existing players work easily together. Simple as that.
