I have received a lot of really interesting comments about my lamenting the absence of serious political debate by the two main political parties this election. What happens when somebody says something which pushes around our dogma? We bury our heads and unsubscribe because we are threatened.
Here’s one comment I received:
Sounds good – “opportunity wasted”. But what exactly did he think should have been done to create the “more productive and more equitable” economy? and in passing I notice he didn’t say “greener / more environmentally friendly”.
and another:
I think that when he says” There’s not even much point blaming politicians. They simply bent to the will of the people. It is on us”, is a cop-out. The bloody politicians have the opportunity to lead the debate and they are not doing so in a positive way.
I thought your Tuesday Club note was great Garry. Jacinda is this fantastic communicator who has not chosen to communicate more than bugger all about a better future. And now she has again specifically ruled out major tax changes – in which case why the hell would I vote for Labour?
Especially with the debacle in health and water policy. Centralized control by bureaucrats is not going to lead us to a better land.
