Last week we had Sam Johnson, one of the founders of the Student Volunteer Army (SVA), and now its National coordinator. I thought I knew what Sam is involved in; but I sure didn’t. His story of how the SVA is promoting active volunteering in the schools in New Zealand was inspiring. Sam took us through an “A” to “Z” of the issues he feels we either need to address, or to emphasise, in order that this area thrives as a place to live in because its so dynamic and exciting and, for many of us, so restful and stimulating.
It was a wonderful talk and Sam really is somebody to watch in the future. He is a natural leader, but my word of warning to him. Don’t peak too early. What you are doing right now is a marvellous preparation for the great things which are in front of you.
Here is the link to Sam’s talk. I really liked his promotion of active citizenship. https://www.facebook.com/tuesdayclubchch/videos/661224814585687
Here are some notes of his A-Z of what needs to happen for Christchurch 2050 (thanks David Bennett)
