I have been thinking about the talks we have had recently on water where there has been much talk about leaching of nitrates into our aquifers. The
The Press had an article last Tuesday labelled “The farmer who ditched sprays” about David Crutchley, who farms using regenerative farming techniques to rebuild the microbiology of his soil. He tests and does not run-off into his streams. He said that he tests the creeks coming off his farm and said he was not getting any leaching.
Should North Canterbury farms which are putting our aquifers at risk be required to adopt this sort of farming practice by Ecan? Should we be encouraging this sort of knowledge to be passed on, by Ecan?
