Hello everyone. Last week’s Tuesday Club was clearly a topic and speaker that everyone was keen to engage with.
Sadly the room was way too full to be safe.
Once the room is full it makes it impossible for staff to deliver food as well as making it dangerous should everyone need to exit in a hurry. A portion of the crowd are older/elderly and once everyone starts stampeding toward the door this is going to become a real problem.
We cannot have the room so full that people are standing in the aisles, putting stools in the aisles, standing so doors can’t open etc.
Moving forward I’m going to ensure we limit the numbers to 50 people. We need to have all egress paths clear. This will mean fewer people inside than have been there on previous busy nights.
This does mean that if you arrive and the space is full, you’re going to have to respect this and watch it on your phone. I’ve been trying to communicate when the room is full but people are just waiting ’til I walk away then forcing their way inside. We also have to realise that the laneway is not part of our liquor license area and we cannot have people spilling out into this space.
The talks are now streamed online on Facebook which means you can watch it on your phone should the space be full when you arrive.
I will make up a sign that we can put on the door once the room is full and I would ask that you respect this. On this sign I’ll put a link to how you can watch the talk on your phone.
All gripes and complaints to Garry please.
Thanks,
Johnny(sound guy in training)
