Dave Henderson lived up to his reputation of pushing the barrow out. I really enjoyed the talk and this was shared by most who attended. One had to have a lie down as her prejudices were stretched somewhat, but everybody got a chance to ask questions and enjoy Dave’s provocations.
Dave described some draft plans for the idea of affordable housing in the Red Zone.
I was reminded of the time I was informed that Dave had placed a Mig jet outside the lane around the corner from CCC in Lichfield Street. Dave blamed Buzz March for delivering it to the wrong place. It stayed there for around 6 weeks. Dave has been pushing the barrow for most of his life. Many times, we have been on opposite sides. That’s the beauty of a democracy.
When I arrived for a look at the Mig, there was a parking attendant scratching the back of their head with a pencil wondering what to do with this thing blocking the footpath. Imagine the ticket. Describe the vehicle “A Russian Mig jet”. Registration number “8008”. Then where would they put the ticket. It had lost its windscreen wipers. I guess the ticket just blew away.
One of my sons, Tim, took his band and stood on the wing and gave a concert for those who did, and didn’t, want to listen to them. He advertised it as “A gig on a Mig”.
Anyway, thanks Dave. Keep thinking and provoking those who need provocation.
