a. Mental health:
The more I look at CDHB the more I distrust the advice any Government receives from the Ministry of Health (MOH). The Ministry has an agenda and they work assiduously to get their own way with it come hell or high water. Look what they have done to the CDHB.
How many times did we in Christchurch hear from the CDHB then team pleading with the MOH to address the issue of mental health stresses which were rampant in the City? The MOH was slow to react and unhelpful with allocating resources. We all have whanau and friends who suffered terribly post quakes and post the murders at the Muslim Mosques. We all know how hard it is to get support for mental health.
So, this article in Newsroom demonstrated that, once again, the MOH is, once again, dragging its feet on addressing mental health https://www.newsroom.co.nz/in-mental-health-silence-is-not-golden?utm_source=Friends+of+the+Newsroom&utm_campaign=7c34da1b0a-Daily+Briefing+15.03.2021&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_71de5c4b35-7c34da1b0a-97862399.
b. Ian Powell’s analysis of DHB’s restructuring:
In the article below Ian Powell has illustrated very clearly that the Government has demonstrated very little confidence in the MOH. It wants to implement the Simpson report which is about reforming the DHB’s but is instead relying on a very expensive EY advisory team to plot out its next course of action.
